The Hun School (Princeton, N.J.) is coming off a 16-7 campaign and coach Jonathan Stone’s team could be even better this season.
Leo Nolan, a 6-7 senior forward from Summit, N.J., will likely be the go-to guy at Hun this year. According to Stone, Nolan is considering Columbia, Colgate, Bucknell, Dartmouth and Penn.
``He’ll play anywhere from the three to the five for us,” Stone said. “He’s really improved over the summer. He’s versatile, is an excellent defender and can shoot the ball from the outside and also post up. He’s a little bit like Noah Savage, who we had last year.”
Charlie Fritsch is another returning starter and is a 6-4 senior swingman who can really shoot the ball from Durham, N.C. Fritsch is getting interest ranging from small D-1 schools all the way down to D-3 colleges.
Those two will be fixtures for Stone in the starting lineup while the other three spots aren’t quite as clear-cut.
Gary Garris is an athletic 6-4 swingman in his post-grad year from Ledgewood, N.J. Geoff Rizk is a 6-1 junior point guard from Franklin Lakes, N.J..
Two more New Jersey natives will also see extensive playing time and could make their way into the starting lineup.
Myron Rolle, a 6-3 junior who is regarded as one of the top football players in the nation, is athletic and should play small forward for Stone. Idris Hilliard is a 6-6 sophomore from Roselle, N.J., who is athletic and will give the team a rebounder and shot-blocker in the paint.
Hun will have 6-9 junior big man Ross Trampler and 5-11 senior guard Jonathan Lloyd, a good shooter who saw limited time a year ago, coming off the bench to give the team depth.
``We’re versatile and can play a lot of different lineups,” said Stone, who took over the program in 2000 after the team had won a total of 15 games the previous two seasons. “We certainly have some depth and have a little more speed than we’ve had in past few years. We just don’t have quite as much size.”
``It’s all going to depend on how we gel and how well we play together as a team,” Stone added.
